The Meghwadi police have arrested a man and his friend from Hyderabad for stealing jewellery worth Rs 5-6 lakh from his sister's house in February. Their associates, who are part of the crime, are still wanted by the cops.
According to the police, the complainant Gulnaz (name changed), a resident of Meghwadi, Andheri East, alleged that jewellery worth Rs 5-6 lakh was stolen from her house. She informed the cops that she suspected that her brother and his friends, who paid a visit to her a few days ago, were involved in the crime.
Police said that the brother of the complainant Mirza Azam Baig, his associate Alimuddin Sayyed along with two other friends visited the complainant's home. She offered them lunch and after that, everyone took an afternoon nap. By evening, the guests left for Hyderabad.
"After Baig left, the complainant made several calls to check if he had reached home safely, but the accused did not answer her calls. Later in the day, the complainant realised that her jewellery was missing from her wardrobe. She then approached the Meghwadi police station who registered an FIR in the case and began a probe," a police officer said.
