Kandivli: Man runs clinic without valid degree, arrested

The Mumbai Crime Branch unit VIII, along with medical officers from R-South ward, conducted a crackdown at several doctors' clinics in Kandivli West on Friday and arrested Kesriprasad Yadav, 53, who allegedly practised as a doctor and ran KP Yadav Clinic without a valid degree for the past 20 years.

Police sources said the accused treated patients and used the names of his elder son and daughter-in-law, both of whom are doctors, along with his own as treating doctors of the clinic. However, the son and daughter-in-law allegedly rarely visit the clinic.

The raid took place after the Crime Branch received a tip-off. During the raid, police found a BEMS certificate, obtained from Bihar in 1991, from the accused. However, the credentials written on the clinic board were different. Officers said the degree was not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council and added that they have sent the certificate, along with Yadav's other degree certificates for verification.

Yadav has been booked under sections 420 and 419 of the IPC for cheating as well as various sections of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act. He was produced before the court on Saturday and has been remanded in police custody till December 6, said Senior Inspector Babasaheb Salunkhe from Kandivli police station.
