Mumbai: Man duped of Rs 1.5 lakh on pretext of job offer from sex service website

Matunga police have arrested a man from Delhi for allegedly cheating a young man by pretending to be a playboy of an online sex service website. The arrested accused duped the victim of 1 lakh 53 thousand rupees through PayTM in the name of hotel booking, special condom, special taxi services.

According to police, the complainant lives in Dadar East. On December 12, while browsing on the internet, he came across a job as a playboy on the sex services website Lokanto. He also found a mobile number on the website. The accused and his aides pretended to workers of the website and offered him a job.

The accused, then, took Rs 1 lakh 53 thousand in three instalments through PayTM by calling the plaintiff from various mobile numbers and pretending to be a woman willing to take sex services, hotel bookings, special condoms, special taxi services.

After receiving the complaint, the Matunga Police started investigation and arrested the accused from Raj Park police station, Nangloi, New Delhi. The name of the accused is Rohit Kumar, the police have seized mobile, laptop and two debit cards from him.

Matunga police produced Rohit Kumar in Kurla court where the court has sent him to police custody till January 20. Matunga police told the court, "The primary investigation is showing that accused Rohit Kumar has implicated many people in different states of the country in this manner. Further investigation is underway."
