A 29-year-old man allegedly killed himself in Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai following which his wife has complained to police against a woman of harassing him, forcing him to take the extreme step. On his wife's complaint the police have booked the woman, an official said on Thursday, reported the PTI.
Based on the complaint, the police on Wednesday registered a case against the 31-year-old woman under Indian Penal Code section 306 (abetment of suicide), they said, as per the PTI.
The man, a resident of Uran in Navi Mumbai, allegedly hanged himself at the accused woman's residence in the same area on January 13, an official from Uran police station said.
The woman had been pressuring him to divorce his wife and and marry her, he said quoting the complaint.

The police initially registered a case of accidental death and sent the body for post-mortem to a government hospital.
After receiving the autopsy report and based on the complaint by the victim's wife, the police registered the case against the accused woman, the official said, the news agency reported.
In an another incident, the Navi Mumbai Police in Maharashtra have registered a case against two persons for allegedly cheating a 61-year-old businessman from Navi Mumbai township of Rs 4.41 crore in a deal pertaining to the optical fibre cables, an official said on Thursday, reported the PTI.
According to the PTI, the victim, a resident of Kharghar area who operates a business of optical fibre cables, entered into a deal with the accused for taking the supply from them.
Based on his complaint, the police on Wednesday registered a case against two persons from Nagpur under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intention), the official said.
A probe was on into the case.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man accused in a case of murder of an auto-rickshaw driver here earlier this month has told the police that he killed one more person last year and dumped the body in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, an official said.
On January 12 this year, the accused man and two other persons were arrested for allegedly killing a 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver by strangling him and dumping the body in the Mithi river in Kurla area of Mumbai, the official from Shivaji Nagar police station said on Wednesday.
The main accused in that case suspected the victim of having an affair with his wife and therefore planned to murder him with his two associates, he said.
