Mumbai Police conducted an overnight 'All Out Operation' in the city ahead of voting in Mumbai on May 20 for Lok Sabha elections 2024 and held seven suspects who were either wanted or absconding in criminal cases, an official said.
According to the police, Mumbai Police conducted the operation on the intervening night of May 18 and 19.
The police said that top city police officials, including Additional Commissioners of Police, Deputy Police Commissioners (DCPs), Divisional Assistant Commissioners, (ACPs) and Senior Police Inspectors, were part of the massive operation.
"The motive behind the 'All Out Operations' in Mumbai are to keep up security and maintain the law and order in the city, official sources said.

This was the second 'All Out Operation' in Mumbai this month. Earlier the police had conducted a similar operation in the first week of May, an official said.
The police said, Mumbai Police special 'All Out Operation' was undertaken in the city under the guidance of Mumbai Police Commissioner, Vivek Phansalkar and Special Mumbai Police Commissioner, Deven Bharti and Joint Commissioner Satyanarayan Chaudhary.
All the regions in city police's jurisdiction, zonal divisions under Mumbai Police jurisdiction and the traffic police were part of the operation in which several criminals were nabbed, the police said.
During the operation, a combing operation was launched that resulted in the arrest of seven suspects who had either been wanted or absconded in criminal cases.
The police also took action against 17 suspects against whom non-bailable warrants were issued, the police said.
Action was also taken in as many as 46 cases under the NDPS ACT (drug related cases of sale and consumption) during the special operation by Mumbai Police.
Police officials, during the operation, also took action against illegal possession of weapons and preventive actions were taken in 31 cases.
"Multiple raids were conducted on illegal sale of liquor and gambling dens during the special 'All Out Operation'. The police have arrested 25 people during the raids in as many as 15 cases," an official said.
He added that the police also conducted a combing operation at 205 spots in the city and examined 1095 people who were in prior police records.
Mumbai Police also conducted nakabandis at 1605 spots in Mumbai and a staggering 5,836 two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles were inspected during nakabandis under various police stations of the city.
Action was taken against 1,558 vehicles during the nakabandis in city.
The operation was also focused on maintaining public safety in Mumbai. The police also inspected 738 establishments, including hotels, lodges, and musafirkhanas.
Voting in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra, including six seats in Mumbai, will be held on Monday in the fifth and last phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the state.
