Mumbai: Andheri hotelier was kidnapped following monetary dispute with suspect, rescued by cops

A day after an Andheri based hotel owner was allegedly kidnapped from his hotel by unknown suspects, the Mumbai Police have successfully rescued the victim and have nabbed the culprits, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the Hotel Veera Residency owner was allegedly kidnapped by the four people by threatening with an airgun and knife on Monday afternoon at Chakala area at Andheri East. Police said that the prime accused in the case had sent three people who posed as waiters, housekeeping staff and a driver to the victim's hotel. The police traced the culprits to Padgha area after their last location was traced.

Police said, the main accused is a partner of the hotel owner for the past few months and they got into a dispute over the pending bills of the hotel expenses.

On the day of the crime, all three accused worked in the hotel from morning till afternoon. In the afternoon at around 3.30 pm all three accused joined the main accused and they pulled an airgun to threaten the victim. They also demanded all the dues pending and threatened to kill him. While kidnapping the hotel owner, the suspects were captured in the CCTV of the hotel, they were seen beating the victim and his driver before leaving from the crime scene.

A police officer said, "The prime accused fired in the air twice with the airgun to threaten the hotel staff and other people present nearby. He along with his aides then dragged the victim into the car and kidnapped him. The police traced the car and the victim by finding out their last location at Padgha near Kasara Ghat area."

He said, "The accused kidnapped the hotel owner because of some money dispute."

The MIDC and crime branch teams are further investigating the matter.
