Lending credence to the notion that Zeeshan Siddique was being targeted by the killers of his father, NCP leader Baba Siddique, the Mumbai Crime Branch stated on Friday that a photo of the Bandra East MLA had been discovered on a phone of one of the accused. The image had been shared among them via Snapchat. The shooters and conspirators used Snapchat to exchange messages, deleting them after receiving instructions from the alleged handlers of the Bishnoi gang.

The crime branch has issued a lookout circular against Shubham Lonkar, believed to be a key conspirator in the case and absconding. mid-day had reported, based on sources from the Mumbai Crime Branch, that the shooters also planned to kill Zeeshan, which was one reason they conducted multiple recces of his office. Following the assassination of his father on the night of October 12, the Mumbai Police have already increased the legislator's security.
Around the time of the murder, Zeeshan had left his office before his father was gunned down. "There is reason to believe, supported by digital evidence, that Zeeshan was also a target, which is why the shooters came armed with three pistols and 60 to 66 live bullets," an officer confirmed. Officials further disclosed that the pistols seized in the case include a Turkish-made one, an Austrian-made Glock pistol (likely used by Maharashtra Police or other state police) and a "desi katta". So far, 58 live bullets have been recovered, apart from the six fired at Baba Siddique, three of which struck him. A passer-by was also injured in the shooting.
