A young boy was killed and at least five others, including a police official, were injured in a gunfight between two factions of the state's ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Thursday, police said.
"A nine-year-old boy got shot during a clash between two groups of miscreants in a village fair in South 24 Parganas district's Basanti on Thursday. He was declared dead in a local hospital," an officer from Basanti Police Station said.
"At least five others, including one of our personnel, also got injured in the crossfire. He got shot in the waist and has been taken to AMRI Hospital in Kolkata," he said.

Police said the two rival groups were closely linked to the local units of Trinamool Congress.
"This seems to be a faction fight of two local Trinamool Congress units. We are awaiting more details about the clash," the officer added.
