A day after the Thane police rescued seven children, including a newborn abducted from the Civil Hospital, from the rented residence of a couple in Pisavli, the cops got their blood samples prepared. All the samples, including those of the couple, who claim to be the children's parents, have been sent to the forensic lab in Kalina for a DNA test. The accused Gudiya Sonu Rajbhar, her husband Sonu Parshuram Rajbhar and Vijay Kailash Shrivastav were arrested following a raid at the Kalyan house. The kids were found to be busy in household work. Though the couple claims that they are their children, police suspect it to be a case of child trafficking. "We have sent the blood samples to the forensic lab for a DNA test.
Though the couple claims that they are the parents of the children, we are still gathering evidence and investigating the case from all possible angles," said Nitin Thakre, senior police inspector, Thane Crime Branch, unit 1. He also said that the child welfare committee would record the statement of the kids.
Late night abduction
Investigation of the newborn's abduction from Thane civil hospital on January 14 led to the arrest of three accused. The complainant in the case, Mohini Mohan Bhovar, had given birth to the baby on Saturday night and was later admitted to the hospital's ward number 5. Speaking on condition of anonymity, a Crime Branch officer said, "Mohini claimed that around 2.30 am the same night, Gudiya approached her and allegedly said that her mother had asked for the child. However, later she was shocked when her mother came looking for the baby. By that time, Gudiya had already left with the child."

Kidnapping
He further said, "On being questioned, the accused said that Gudiya gave birth to a baby two months back. To get medicines for her, she first decided to go to JJ Hospital along with Vijay. But then they changed their mind and went to Thane Civil Hospital, as it was close by. As Vijay had lost his wife and newborn baby around five years back, he wanted a child. This was why they decided to kidnap the newborn. We suspect that all the other children have also been kidnapped. It might turn out to be a case of child trafficking. We are verifying facts and gathering evidence to know the real reason behind the incident."
