A complaint lodged by a 34-year-old lady on Tuesday against a pastor from Dehuroad church put officials of the Warje police station in a fix, as the complaint was lodged four years after the crime took place. The complainant accused the pastor of raping her on several occasions between 2006 and 2008.
The complainant said she had approached the pastor to get rid of the evil spirits she believed had possessed her. She claimed that whenever she fainted during the cleansing sessions, the accused would give her water that was spiked with sedatives and rape her. She also said the pastor promised that he would marry her.
The woman said that it was only after the pastor broke his promise and started issuing threats to her relatives and her, she lodged a complaint against him. Based on the complaint, police officials booked the pastor for luring the woman under the pretence of performing black magic to help her get rid of her problems.

Police Inspector Sunil Darekar of the Warje police station said primary investigation revealed that the woman's claims were contradictory and the complainant was non-cooperative.
He said police officials also recovered a copy of the application submitted to the authorities of the Dehuroad church in 2011, asking them to transfer the accused to Uttamnagar church. Darkar said that of the several signatures, requesting pastor's transfer, one belonged of the complainant, which contradicts her claims that she hasn't been in touch with the pastor since 2008.
Investigating officer PSI S A Gaikwad said the woman also claimed that the pastor forced her to undergo an abortion. He said officials were inquiring authorities and staffers of the two private maternity hospitals the complainant had mentioned in her allegations about the forced abortion.
Gaikwad said the accused would be arrested only after they have incriminating evidence proving his crime. u00a0
