Based on vital clues gained from the arrest of two labourers hailing from West Bengal, who were allegedly trying to bring fake currency notes into circulation, Vimantal police have now apprehended two more youths in this case, and are investigating whether they are part of a larger syndicate operating in the city. MiD DAY had reported the matter yesterday.

The newly arrested accused have been identified as Nobakumar Ravindranath Vishwas (25), residing at Wadarwadi, and Asadul Faizal Haq Zaman (23), living in Old Sangvi area of Pune.

They are natives of West Bengal. Saudagar Istabali Shaikh (18) and Saddam Faizuddin Shaikh (19), both from Lohegaon, were arrested earlier. Sub-inspector Subhash Chavan of Vimantal police station said, "We have seized 46 fake currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination from the four men. All of them work as labourers in various parts of the city and also at some juice kiosks. We are now investigating the source from where the accused got the fake currency notes, and whether they are part of a larger consortium operating in the city."
