A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by eight men at Amboli in Mumbai on Monday night. The incident took place when the survivor and her husband had gone to the place in search of a property in the area.

The husband-wife duo went to Shamnagar slum area for their house hunt, and were apparently being helped by a local woman. on Monday night, the woman and her husband stayed at the place of the woman. She was gangraped after the accused asked the woman's husband to go out for some work.

Following a complaint, the Amboli police registered a gangrape case and arrested seven accused in the matter, all belonging to the same area and aged between 20-25. A medical test confirmed the rape and the role of others in the crime is being investigated.
Mumbai police spokesperson, DCP, Ashok Dudhe said, "A woman and her husband were looking for a house in a Shamnagar slum area with the help of a lady. In the night, they stayed back at the house of the woman. Eight persons from the same area raped that woman. Seven accused have been arrested, one of whom has a criminal history. The survivor is stable and investigations are going on."
