Mumbai Crime: Thieves strike Mumbra, family, steal over Rs 4 lakh

 A walk around their residence confirmed that gadgets, jewellery and other values amounting to over Rs 4 lakh had been stolen from the house


The Sheikhs were asleep when tragedy struck their home. In the early hours of Thursday, Mumbra-resident Siraj Ahmad Sheikh's wife woke up around 4 am to find their house completely vandalised. A walk around their residence confirmed that gadgets, jewellery and other values amounting to over Rs 4 lakh had been stolen from the house.

In his complaint to the cops, the builder, said, "My family, comprising my wife and our three children, went to bed around 12.30 am on Thursday. While the rest of us were sound asleep, my wife woke up around 4 am. She stepped outside our bedroom to find the entire house, including our kitchen and another bedroom vandalised. The main door of the house stood open. We immediately started taking inventory of all that was missing. We realised that most of our cupboards had been broken into. Gold jewellery, en expensive watch I owned and several other valuables are missing."

The Sheikhs alerted Mumbra Police, who reached their residence and conducted a panchnama. "The cops checked if there was any damage to the doors, but the doors and all the locks were fine. Then, we found that the thieves broke the iron grille of a window to enter our premises."

Speaking to mid-day, a Mumbra police officer said, "We have done a panchnama. It seems that the thieves stole valuables worth Rs 4,70,000. We have filed an FIR in the case under IPC sections 457 and 380 for trespassing and theft. Investigations are underway."
