A housebreaking incident was averted in south Mumbai recently after an alert police team found the robber lurking in the shadows. A team of nine police personnel from Azad Maidan was on their usual rounds near Dhobitalao on Sunday night, when they spotted someone moving stealthily in a dark shed. One of the officers said, "When we started walking towards him, we saw that there were other people with him. We did manage to catch him, even though the others escaped."

The police team checked his pockets and found duplicate keys, a hammer and screwdriver.

At the police station, the robber revealed his name as being Mohammad Alam Sheikh, and his age as 21. He said he and his gang had planned to loot a shop.
