A 45-year-old woman from Mulund committed suicide on July 1. She was found hanging in her home at around 8 pm. At the time of the incident, her husband was at work, while her daughter had gone to the market to purchase groceries.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the woman's family claimed that she was suffering from severe depression after losing her savings in the PMC bank scam and actor Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide was also affecting her mental health since last month.
"She had been in a bad state since the time the PMC bank scam came to light. The situation deteriorated in the past one month, especially after Sushant Singh Rajput's deah," the woman's husband was quoted as saying by the website
He had worked on a cruise ship for 14 years to save the money. He added that the family had more than Rs 15 lakh in their PMC bank account. "She would often wake up in the middle of the night and start crying about the financial loss. We had been taking her to a psychiatrist for the last few months," her husband further said.

The couple's 20-year-old daughter, who is pursuing BCom (CS), said that she had to skip many classes to take care of her mother. "My mother got panic attacks after the news of PMC bank scam came to light. We assured her that we would get our money back soon. Things got worse after Diwali. On July 1, she was in a panicked state and insisted on going to the bank to talk to the authorities," her daughter was quoted as saying by the website.
