Man kills girl, self after she rejects marriage proposal

Vikas shot dead 21-year-old Krishna, daughter of a retired army Subedar, after she rejected his marriage proposal yesterday, they said.

The girl's father had earlier rejected Vikas's proposal after which he yesterday tried to propose the girl while she was returning with her sister from a school where she worked, they said.

He shot the woman in head with a revolver and later killed himself, police said, adding that Krishna was immediately taken to a nearby army hospital where she was declared dead.

Police have handed over the bodies to their families after conducting postmortem. u00a0
