"At this stage we do have four dead including the gunman," Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said, adding that the suspected gunman was a man in his 20s.

He said there were shootings at six locations, starting at around 5:20 am (local time). At least three of the shootings occurred near the 5 and 55 freeways.

Five people were shot in Tustin, about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles, and two others were shot in nearby areas, said Tustin police department spokesman Paul Garaven. "There are multiple (crime) scenes throughout Tustin and the surrounding areas," Garven said.u00a0
