A 24-year-old suspected criminal, carrying a cash reward of Rs 70,000 on his head, was today nabbed by police following an exchange of fire near Okhla Mandi in south east Delhi, police said. The accused, Munnawar, was arrested by a team of special staff around 4.30 AM, Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner Of Police (south east), said.
Munnawar, who was wanted in three cases, including murder registered in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, is a close aide of gangster Chenu Pehalwan and allegedly worked as his sharp shooter, the official said.
He was also wanted in connection with the firing at a police party near Pul Prahladpur in 2016, he said. The police recovered a swift car and a pistol and cartridges from him, the official said. It was also found that the accused was wearing a bulletproof jacket inside his pullover, Biswal said. He was accompanied by an associate who managed to escape, but has been identified, the official added.

The cash reward on him was announced in connection with the firing on a police party of Pul Prahaladpur police station on December 1, 2016.
