Bihar: Man arrested with fake currency notes

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a person with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 1 lakh from the Indo-Nepal border town of Raxaul


Motihari (Bihar): The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested a person with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 1 lakh from the Indo-Nepal border town of Raxaul.

Based on intelligence inputs, SSB 13th battalion Commandant in-Charge Rajesh Kumar said Riyaz Mian was caught with the FICN consignment from Lakshmipur locality of Raxaul in East Champaran district by a team led by Inspector Jitendra Kumar last night.

"The FICN consignment was in the denomination of Rs 1,000 notes. Riyaz has confessed that he had brought the notes from Birganj in Nepal and was supposed to hand them over to another person in Motihari," the Commandant in-charge said.

SSB officials said several family members of Riyaz are suspected to be engaged in FICN and smuggling activities. His wife was arrested some time ago in a case of smuggling of fake currency notes.

Riyaz has been handed over to the Bihar Police and a case has been registered against him, following which he will be sent to jail, he said. Recently, in a joint operation, the NIA and Bihar Police had arrested Nepali resident Sharda Shankar Kushwaha, believed to be the ISI kingpin of FICN trade in the area.
