A 35-year-old woman was allegedly abducted, assaulted and looted by three unidentified men - posing as policemen - near Ambamata Mandir in Sukhsagarnagar around 6.30 am yesterday. The offenders took away gold ornaments, about 190 grams, worn by the victim, and then dumped her at the new Katraj tunnel.
The woman, Sunita Ram Dhavale, is a resident of Gokulnagar on Katraj-Kondhwa road. She has filed a complaint against the three unknown men at Bibwewadi police station. Sunita is a housewife, while her husband is an astrologer.
According to her complaint, Sunita had stepped out of her house to collect fodder for livestock. When she came near Ambamata Mandir, three persons in a white car arrived and hollered at her. They were posing as cops and asked Sunita to accompany them to the nearest police station. The victim was forced to get into the vehicle. The accused then took the car to Pune-Satara highway and then towards the new Katraj tunnel.
While on their way, the miscreants assaulted Sunita, and forcibly removed her gold ornaments. They then left her near the tunnel and fled. Sunita walked towards Katraj junction, and then, with the help of her relatives, reached home. Following this, she contacted Bibwewadi police station and lodged a complaint.
Assistant inspector Sandeep Jagtap is investigating the case.u00a0
