ACP rescues 11 girls from flesh trade

Hinjewadi police arrested seven men on charges of running a sex racket and rescued 11 girls from a hotel in Balewadi area


Assistant Police Commissioner Smita Patil carried out the raid at about 11pm on Monday night, with the help of police personnel from Hinjewadi police station.

The arrested accused have been identified as Ganesh Tikaram Sharma (23), Zubair Jalaluddin Hussain (22) both from Assam, Arjunkumar Laxman Rahu (19), Manoj Joginder Gupta (23), both from Uttar Pradesh, Kumar Bahadur Giri (20), Ashok GaneshRawat (24), Vishal Shiva Gautam (28), all three from Chinchwad. They have been remanded in police custody till November 30.

A case has also been registered against the hotel owner Prashant Shetty, another person named Shaktisingh Giri and a few others at Chatuhshrungi police station, as the hotel comes under its jurisdiction. Police have also seized two cars used by the accused. Meanwhile, police said Giri who is absconding has six cases registered against him at Yerawada, Koregaon Park, Sangvi and Chatuhshrungi police station since 2005.u00a0
