Faridabad: Four persons have been sentenced to 20 years in jail by a local court here for the rape and murder of a girl in October, 2013.
According to the prosecution, the matter came to light on October 7, 2013, as a team from Bhupani police station here recovered the badly mutilated body of a girl in the bushes near Agra canal.
After ascertaining the identity of the girl, police also zeroed in on four youths Anwar, Aasim, Rashid and Hasmuddin who were suspected to have a hand in the crime. All the four subsequently pronounced guilty and also fined a sum of Rs 70,000 each were working at a nearby workshop and Anwar was in a relationship with the deceased.
The victim is said to have insisted that Anwar get married to her at the earliest when he was already engaged to a girl in Mumbai. Anwar discussed the matter with his three accomplices and the four decided to get rid of the girl. On October 6, 2013, Anwar arranged for a cab in which, along with his three accomplices, he took the girl to Delhi.
But all of them got down at Mawai Kathpula near Agra canal and the cab was released. Taking the girl to an isolated spot, the four raped the girl before strangulating her with her own dupatta. The four also disfigured the victim's face to prevent identification.
