A 23-year-old was stabbed by unknown persons for honking at them after the signal turned green. The youth was stabbed so badly that he had to be rushed to the hospital with an intestine in hand. "Due to timely medical intervention, the youngster is now out of danger but remains in the ICU of a Vashi hospital," the police said. The Vashi Police has lodged an FIR against unknown persons and is trying to trace the attackers.

According to the police, the incident occurred on May 5, when Ajay Sagre had ventured out on his bullet with his friend Pratik Thakur, who was injured in the incident. Both reached the signal at Kopri village around 11.30 pm and stopped after the signal turned red. While waiting, they spotted two bikes ahead of them.

When the signal turned green, Sagre honked at the bikers. Two people were sitting on each bike. "They immediately started abusing, and an argument ensued," Sagre told mid-day. Thakur who was riding pillion, got down from the bike, and tried to calm the attackers. "Right then, one of the riders, who was wearing a white T-shirt charged at him, and stabbed him in the stomach. He was bleeding profusely and his intestine had also popped out. I was scared, but realised that if I didn't take him to the hospital soon, we could lose him. I made him sit on the bike and rushed him to Fortis Hiranandani Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU," Sagre added. Hospital authorities informed the Vashi Police about the incident. The police have lodged an FIR against an unknown person.
