Bombay High Court: The High Court of Bombay is one of the oldest High Courts in India. It is located at Fort in South Mumbai. It has Appellate Jurisdiction over the State of Maharashtra, Goa, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In addition to the Principal Seat at Bombay, it has benches at Aurangabad, Nagpur, Panaji in Goa.

TADA: The Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) (TADA) Act was the first legislative effort to define and counter-terrorist activities. It was introduced in 1985 to counter terrorist violence. The police were given enhanced powers for the detention of suspects and the Act shifted the burden of proof on the accused. Courts were set up exclusively to hear the cases and deliver judgments pertaining to the persons accused under this Act.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was arrested under TADA and the Arms Act for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. In 2006, the TADA court found Sanjay Dutt guilty under Arms Act but acquitted him under TADA.

Mazgaon Court: Mazgaon court was inaugurated in 1997 but advocates say that they have been living in fear since then. In 2013, an inspection report declared Mazgaon unsafe and recommended that the building be shut down immediately. The five-storey Mazgaon Court has been lying vacant ever since it was declared to be a dilapidated structure in June 2013.

Borivli Court: The Borivli Court is located at Chandavarkar Lane in Borivli. The building now is in a dilapidated condition.

Borivli Court: The court deals with family dispute or divorce matters, property matter, employment or labour court matter and a criminal matter, etc.

Session Court: Session Court is also known as the district court. In Mumbai, there are two courts, the main one is in Kala Ghoda, South Mumbai and the second is at Dindoshi in Goregaon. The session court gives judgment in matters related to criminal cases. The session court is responsible for cases related to murders, theft, dacoity, etc.

Arthur Road Jail: The Mumbai Central Prison, commonly known as Arthur Road Jail, was built in 1926 is the city's largest and oldest prison. Most of the city's prisoners are lodged here. It was upgraded in 1994 to become a Central Prison. Popular celebrities who were lodged in Arthur Road Jail include Sanjay Dutt, Sooraj Pancholi, and Shiney Ahuja.

Esplanade Court: The Presidency Magistrate's courts were established in the year 1810 also known as Police Courts. These Courts are known as The Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Courts, Mumbai. The sanctioned strength of courts of Metropolitan Magistrates is 75 which are housed in 16 Court Complexes
