A FRIENDS episode a day, keeps the blues away - a philosophy that's seen fans of the cult American TV show through good days and bad, ever since the decade-long series first premiered in 1994. And now, after hundreds of theories on how the lives of Monica, Chandler, Joey, Rachel, Ross and Phoebe panned out since the finale in 2004, the cast is coming together again. While the much-awaited reunion episode is rumoured to be along the lines of a talk show, fans share which storylines they would love to see play out.
Real deal with Mon-dler
NGO worker Jonita Colaco, who's admittedly done 2,000 reruns of the 236 episodes, shares that the show makes her happy. "I'm a sucker for happy endings so I keep going back to it," she adds. Like many others, Colaco, too, is rooting for Joey and Rachel to come together, since "he's still in love with her".
"Moreover, you know how we've been thinking that Chandler and Monica are happily married, but I don't think that works out. I don't think their marriage will last as Monica is too hard to get along with," the 26-year-old points out.
How's Joey doin'?
PR professional Varisha Kampani wasn't into sitcoms until her husband introduced her to FRIENDS. "After watching a couple of seasons, I realised that it was a social handicap to have not watched the show. I wish Joey was my real life best friend, so I'd have company to finish everything every time my fridge broke down," she jokes.
While the final season ended with the much-loved union of Rachel and Ross, the 32-year-old hopes to see Rachel hook up with Joey in the reunion. "They were meant to be together. I think Ross should've ended up with Mona. I'd also like to see Chandler's kids living in his and Joey's old apartment," she adds.
A proper Ross and Rachel wedding
"My first introduction to FRIENDS was when I was 10. Having no significant knowledge of any story or character, I just felt drawn towards the show from that age. The comedy was top-notch and I fell in love with the writing," improv artiste Assad Khan reveals.
The 30-year-old is excited to see Ross and Rachel get a proper wedding. "One where Ross says, âI take thee Rachelâ¦', without it being a problem. It would be the greatest callback ever! I also want to see Chandler be a dad, and Ursula mending her relationship with Phoebe," he shares.
