As important as it is to walk away from art with new questions, they shouldn't be obstacles in further interacting with the work or topic. So, if art ever feels confusing or intimidating and you want to learn how to appreciate artworks, Baadal Ghar, an art studio, will host its first How to Read a Wall discussion-based online workshop to guide participants in approaching art.
Aditi K
Founders and artists, Shailee Mehta and Aditi K, will present a range of visual works by various artists along with talking points to lead participant discussion. The workshop aims to cover various forms, mediums and contexts of art, and arm viewers with approaches to better engage with art and the confidence to express their opinions.
Shailee Mehta
Speaking about the discourse around art, Aditi shares, "The kind of language used in art has been developed for a reason, to [aptly describe works and concepts]. In art school, we have learnt the demystification of this language and are comfortable interpreting it and engaging with it as a viewer." Mehta adds, "As viewers, it is our responsibility to approach a work with attention and intention, to give our time to perceive it and complete the conversation the artist has begun."
