A virtual session aims to address challenges faced by LGBTQiA+ entrepreneurs during the pandemic

Kanishka Chaudhry

In 2020, the Samavesh Chamber of Commerce was established to create a safe and inclusive business ecosystem for LGBTQiA+ and ethnic minority communities in India. This Saturday, they will host a virtual consultation session to understand the challenges that LGBTQiA+ business owners are facing in the pandemic, and discuss the way ahead.

"The is the first of several sessions planned with Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Canada, and Equal Asia Foundation, Thailand. We will get a glimpse of the best practices from these countries," shares co-founder Kanishka Chaudhry. The session is open to queer business owners, freelancers and budding entrepreneurs. Six LGBTQiA+ business owners, artists, gig workers, and professionals from diverse fields will be part of the consultation panel.

"The pandemic has changed the way that these six entities conducted their business. They will share what deterrents they faced during this period, and how they navigated the same. Viewers will also be able to ask questions ," Chaudhry says. Key learnings on roadblocks being faced by professionals will also be shared with the government to initiate change.
