Previous editions of the Tata Mumbai Marathon
The annual Tata Mumbai Marathon is a much-awaited date in the city's calendar. For 18 years, the third Sunday of January took a whole new meaning as runners from the city, country and world congregated in Mumbai for the marathon. As the pandemic rages on, the organisers decided to call off the event and reschedule it. "The Tata Mumbai Marathon event has been a silver lining for the social sector, by raising over Rs 300 crore for charity across numerous causes. TMM has spawned over 1,700 races in the country. Running is the fastest-growing participative sport in India, and TMM has played a pivotal role in facilitating this transformation," shares Vivek Singh, who is joint MD of Procam International.
The organisers have launched Untold Stories of TMM, an initiative to bring the community of runners to share their experiences from this marathon. The idea is to encourage runners to send in video and audio bytes that will be used to create a short series around TMM. Despite the unpredictable situation, the runners have kept a positive outlook and have trained hard towards their goals. "We intended to create the magic and bring alive the nostalgia and spirit of the marathon. This initiative will carry forward the stories of all our stakeholders who make the Tata Mumbai Marathon special and memorable," shares Singh.
