Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's iconic play A Doll's House, which was an evocative portrayal of a woman's suffering in a world dominated by men, is getting a Hindi adaptation this weekend. Directed by Niloy Roy and presented by Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts, the virtual adaptation follows the story of a couple, Nora and Torvald Helmer, almost eight years after their marriage. Although they seemingly have a traditional marriage - Torvald adores his wife, now pregnant, albeit in a patronising manner - Nora lives with a secret. The play, set in the 1870s, played a crucial role in establishing realism as a form of theatre.
