Actor and stand-up comic Vir Das has donated some valued items from his closet and personal memorabilia to the Thrift Shop who will be hosting a garage sale this weekend. Mumbai's first brick and mortar thrift store is an offshoot of the Bombay Closet Cleanse, a digital store that ships worldwide and stocks pre-loved fast fashion, luxury bags, shoes, curated local finds, vintage books, art and more at a bargain.
The physical store intends to offer an experiential space that takes inspiration from New York's many thrift and pawn shops with a quaint, grungy vintage-inspired decor, and periodically conducts charity garage sales in collaboration with influencers and celebrities. In the past, Monica Dogra, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Malvika Sitlani and Abhishek Upmanyu have also donated their personal effects to raise funds for various causes.

Das has generously donated some gems from his personal memorabilia and closet - a lot of them acquired during his time in New York. This includes shoes, jackets, hats, caps, pop culture merchandise, accessories, and gadgets. Some of his prized possessions include a pair of Swarovski cufflinks, an original Lakers cap, a beautifully tailored Panama hat from New York, Bose headphones, and merchandise from Sherlock and Star Wars. Pieces will be priced Rs 499 onwards and will go up to Rs 12,000 and all proceeds from the sale will go to Paws Animal Rescue Hospital in Murbad in memory of Das' dog Dr. Watson.
