Some call it the beautiful game, while others say it's just a bunch of players passing a ball around for 90 minutes. Futsal, a shorter, fast paced, indoor version of football bridges the gap perfectly. This weekend, Primeshift, a sports education platform, will be organising the Primeshift Futsal tournament at a Bandra venue.
"There are a lot of young footballers in the city who book football turfs every weekend to play with their smaller teams. We wanted to give them a competitive platform to fight it out and showcase their skills. That's how the idea of organising a tournament for such teams was born," Jatin Thakur, the founder of Primeshift shares.
Unlike the usual 90 minutes, the futsal matches will last 20 minutes with a few modifications like smaller squads of five a side, and unlimited player substitution. "We have announced a prize money of Rs 13,000 for the winning team to lift the teams' competitive spirits," shares the organiser.
