If you want to have a tryst with trivia, tune into Fact of the Matter. It's a podcast that sports media personalities Rathindra Basu and Joy Bhattacharjya launched recently. The premise is such that the duo picks up tidbits of information and dissects their significance. It's about having fun with facts. "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." That's a famous line from Gone With The Wind, the classic movie. Many of us know that sentence. But how many of us know the etymology of the final word, "damn"? Not everyone. This podcast delves into subjects like that.

Sports, politics, films - all's fair as a subject matter. "Space is losing its aura of being approachable to a select few⦠You never know, this can start a new way of starting a holiday," Basu says, referring to billionaires who surpass the idea of taking a weekend trip to Goa. That's how free-flowing the chit-chat is. The printed word meets the spoken opinion in this podcast. Basu and Bhattacharjya evidently get their material from newspapers like the one you have in your hand right now.
What does that say about the dissemination of content? The fact that content now, in today's day and age, inhabits a multimedia platform. Text, audio, and even video - they are all aligned. Print journalists, like Basu, are hosting podcasts. Broadcast personalities like Bhattacharjya are holding their hand. It's a symbiotic relationship. The way we consume information is changing, for sure. But remember this. The printed word remains here to stay. It's the foundation of truth. You can't change what has been written in black and white. Nor can you retract words that have been spoken out aloud, like in this podcast called Fact of the Matter.
