Cracking the digital code

Digital marketing has been gaining ground over the past decade as the Internet takes increasing control of our lives. But it got a major fillip during the lockdown last year when people who were cooped up at home took to it with greater frequency. So feels Meherzad Karanjia, chief learning officer at Indian Institute of Digital Education (IIDE), a school that is hosting a two-day event called Bombay Live that will encompass various aspects of digital marketing and other subjects associated with it.

The first day will witness industry experts who have been guest lecturers at IIDE sharing their insights on a range of topics that include Selective freedom, Pseudo feminism and Body positivity. The speakers include LGBTQIA+ activist Sushank Chibber, Nitasha Biswas, who is India's first transgender beauty contest winner, and supermodel Ninja Singh.

These will be followed with a masterclass on digital marketing that IIDE founder Karan Shah will conduct, and another one on what it takes to sustain as a creative professional, which career coach Tapan Mody will host. Karanjia tells us that both these crash courses will be interactive. "We believe in the concept of edutainment, where we inject fun into learning. That's why we keep our sessions hands-on, instead of relying on textbooks," he says.

The educator adds that while digital marketing was once considered a niche career, there is now a lot of interest in it among students and working professionals looking to learn a new skill, and among entrepreneurs looking to start a new business, which contributed to the boom the concept has witnessed over the past decade.
