A popular games expo returns to Mumbai, bringing new experiences and thrills, including one made by two teens
Are you a gamer? Here's a piece of good news: the Indian Games Expo (IGX) is back in town with a range of games to try, and even a fun cosplay competition. IGX will feature competitive tournaments around games like FIFA 18, WWE 2K18, Gran Turismo Sport and Injustice 2, where you stand the chance to win cash and prizes worth over R1.5 lakh. You can also try your hand at Far Cry 5, which will be available at the event a few months ahead of its February 2018 release, and for the first time in India.
Among the highlights this time is a game called Alter Army, which has been created by two teenaged boys from Jaipur who have a studio called Vague Pixels. "The game will be out onâu00c2u0080u00c2u0088Steam in January 2018. It's a 2D action platformer with pixel art, and will be available for PCâu00c2u0080u00c2u0088and Mac," says Mridul Pancholi, who created the game with his friend Mridul Bansal (the names are a coincidence).

He adds, "We were 15 when we started working on the game, which was a year-and-a-half ago. It was a tough phase in our lives, because no one understood what we were doing, and wanted us to focus on our studies. Luckily, our game garnered a lot of support on Steam Greenlight, where people could vote for indie games to get them published. Later, we managed to receive funding and worked on the game further, even submitting it at the NASSCOM Game Developers Conference in New Delhi."
The event is open to kids and adults
The duo will be showcasing a demo version of the game on both days of IGX. Apart from Alter Army, you can try games by other Indian studios such as Ogre Head Studios, Nodding Heads Studio, Roosh Interactive, and FirstSeed. Moreover, for the first time at IGX, you can experience tabletop gaming for free, which will be conducted in association with the Mumbai Board Gamers community.
