Acting and physical exercises during a Senseact workshop
Therapy can be anything, from a short walk on the grass to seeking help from a professional. A person has the liberty to choose their form of therapy. Actor Saurabh Saraswat has embodied this lesson with his acting workshop, Senseact. He is working towards a therapy workshop that helps actors and non-actors to adopt a healthy morning riyaz that encourages them to understand morning patterns, accept them and change them.
Saraswat was clear that he also wanted non-actors to be a part of this session. "The basic training focuses on the psycho-physical aspects as well as your body. I feel such therapy benefits everyone. Also, I think non-actors do not face the pressure to act better as actors do."
A session
The actor who is also an acting coach, shares that he got the idea after going through a rough phase in his professional life during the COVID-19 lockdown. "Post-pandemic, many who lost their jobs went through depression, anxiety and panic attacks due to unemployment. I went through a similar experience in 2021. So, this workshop helps you to gain control of your bodies, senses and mind."
While there are many topics that will be explored by the participants in the therapy session, it is the inner silence and the body training that Saraswat wishes to focus on. "After you gain inner silence, your imagination, concentration and observation function with ease and speed. Next, we move to body training, which is extremely important. The more an actor exercises the more he will be open in his being," he describes.

Saraswat explains that although he is the sole tutor at the workshop, it is his mentors Adil Hussain and Jyoti Dogra whose teachings he has incorporated in the lessons. "I have practiced their teachings for years now. After this 21-day online therapy session, I am planning to conduct a 15-day workshop in Manali as well. I hope it helps others in the same way it helped me emerge as an actor and a person,"
he concludes.
