The event serves as a platform to exchange travel tips and ideas
Most of us harbour endless travel wishlists so we can explore new sights and sounds. But adventure and travel might not be an easy, comfortable plan for much of the world's disabled population bitten by the wanderlust bug. Nonetheless, perseverance shows the way, as was the case with Sanjeev Shenvi who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Enable Travel, an accessible holiday initiative by travel company Cox & Kings, was set up after Shenvi, a former employee with them, highlighted the need for such ideas in India. This paved the way to create something new for the disabled traveller in the country. Debolin Sen, head at Enable Travel, shares that the team is a mix of abled and disabled experts who travel and curate itineraries for those who wish to travel barrier-free. "Once disabled individuals joined our itineraries, it was important that those who signed up for these trips met and shared their trip experiences with potential disabled travellers as well as exchanged ideas with the able-bodied," he adds. "Travel Tales is such a platform to share tales and bring about a social change where we accept and acknowledge travel for the disabled," he says.

The second edition of Travel Tales is being held this Sunday, and Sen is keen that the disabled community in Mumbai sheds its inhibitions to attend the event. The intent for such platforms, he feels, is to exchange travel ideas and stories laced with fun and banter. And with live music by emerging artiste Banat Kaur Bagga, and delicious food and drinks for company, this promises to be an engaging event.
