An hour of serious gaming on bean bags and hot cheesy food - your Sundays are sorted
The venue includes a gaming cubicle
Board games are now a staple on the checklist of cool things to include at a restaurant. Be it drinking nights with the gang or a lunch meeting at a café, games have crept up at all kinds of joints.
Ministry of Games, however, is a gaming zone first and a cafe later. This new hang-out in Mulund shares its food menu and owners with the Love & Latte franchise. But unlike other food spots, you pay by the hour to play here, and it isn't mandatory to order eats. An hour of gaming (board or video) will cost you Rs 150 per person (or Rs 500 for the whole day), which might feel steep for a large group, as you shell out extra for the food. The board game range is wide - Pictionary, Monopoly, Catan, Scrabble, Game of Thrones and many more. The staff will happily assist you with the rules of a game you have never heard of.
Maize And Black Bean Panini
There is a variety of seating for different gamers; a bean bag cubicle with a PlayStation and a few gaming CDs and felt-top tables for board gamers. If you wish to play for free and just order some food, opt for a table on which you can play X and O on with markers. The floor's chessboard-tiled too! We settled for a game of Mortal Kombat and two glasses filled with deliciousness that were Banana Chocolate Smoothie (Rs 180) and Red Velvet Divine Shake (Rs 200). Mid-way through sorely losing a game, we chose a Maize and Black Bean Panini (Rs 150) and Spiced Cottage Cheese Roll (Rs 150) from their all-vegetarian menu. Both helped raise our spirits; the panini made for a healthy snack with a generous stuffing of black beans in a perfectly soft bread. The cottage cheese roll satisfied the paneer-lover in us with its delicate cubes laced with a plethora of spices.
After a round of gaming, we moved to the marker-friendly tables to finish the rest of our meal - a mundane Alfredo Fusilli Pasta (Rs 200) and a deliciously frothy Caramel Frappé (Rs 160). With decent food and interesting gaming options, Ministry Of Games makes for a good idea for a date night or a theme-based party.
