Taking his role of a guide in 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' seriously, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan recommends the best to eat, watch and experience in Mumbai's No. 1 Around Town section for one week
Shah Rukh Khan
The setting is apt. We're inside a six-decade-old film studio where some of Bollywood's iconic films were created. As the rain beats down outside on a Sunday, we're about to meet with the King of Bollywood at Mehboob Studios. Dressed in all black, Shah Rukh Khan steps in a flash, his security in tow. He plays a lost guide in his upcoming film and for now, he takes on his role off screen, as he shares his love affair for all things Mumbai. SRK loves his tandoori chicken, can't skip his coffee, and misses shaking a leg with wife Gauri at Bandra's long-gone disco hotspot, Rock Around the Clock. Here, SRK opens up on his favourite food and drink memories, and his go-to haunts.
My go-to restaurant and street stall
Whenever I am a little bored of eating at home or in office, I end up with my team at Olive. I also visit Arth; it's a new restaurant designed by Gauri. I eat very little, so, usually it's the leftovers in the house (laughs). When we end up working late, I like eating sada dosa or masala dosa with coconut curry from Manju Dosa Center, near my office.

Where does a Dilliwallah find tandoori chicken in Mumbai
I got to know four days back (since everyone discusses food in office) that there's a Moti Mahal here too. But I don't know if it's the same or as good as the original. There is also Harpal Singh, where you can order in (it's not a restaurant). The best thing about them is that they bring their own dishes and cutlery. And when you are done, they take everything back and it's mess-free. It's very rich, north Indian Punjabi food. I really liked their tandoori chicken when I ate it.
Caffeine fix for the coffee addict
I have black coffee and carry my own coffee machine (Nespresso). If I have it from outside, it would be at Starbucks; they make some really nice coffees.
All-time Mumbai favourites
There was a nightclub called Rock Around the Clock on Bandra's Hill Road. They played Tarzan Boy and all of those faraway songs of the '80s and '90s. I used to have their tandoori chicken pizza on most nights. If we were working, we would pick up the biryani from Lucky.
Favourite food on set
Normally, I don't eat set food, but if I do, it's chicken curry, roti, dal and rice.
My wishlist of public spaces to revisit
I have shot the whole of Oh Darling Yeh Hai India! for 152 days at Marine Drive. All my friends from the time would pick me up at night and we would eat at the restaurants around the location. Sometimes, I park at Worli Seaface with my kids after a long drive. I would love to go out and have a bhutta (which we used to do in Delhi), especially in the rain.
