"The kits come with serving instructions and the concentrates have to be finished at the customer's kitchen. Each box serves two-three people. Pratimaben's pani puri
At a lunch party 40 years ago, Malabar Hill resident Pratima Shodhan served her friends a chaat spread of pani puri, ragda pattice and pav bhaji.

"They coaxed me to start a food business, and here I am," the 76-year-old smiles over the phone. She learnt these skills from her Ahmedabad-based bhabhi, who ran a successful catering business.

"I ask for spice levels and make the pudina water accordingly. We send meetha chutney, puris and condiments of aloo, chana and moong." Her menu boasts of most street food favourites.

Shital's Street Foodgasm

Straight from her studio in Khar, we've loved her Gujju winter undhiyu and gol papdi baklava. The sassy home chef is also doing her version of dabeli (Rs 75 per piece), rasta pav bhaji (Rs 200), tava pulao (Rs 250), ragda pattice (Rs 250), spicy masala chutney pav (Rs 100) and decadent falooda rabdi (Rs 300).

With her mother Pramila Salian, Leelavathi Salian Gupte (inset) offers a tiffin service across the city. Her street food menu includes idli, sambar and chutney (Rs 90), sada dosa (Rs 80), podi dosa (Rs 90), masala dosa (Rs 90), onion and tomato uttapam with sambar and chutney (Rs 120), veg frankie (Rs 100) and chicken frankie (Rs 140), veg sandwich (Rs 70) and chicken mayo sandwich (Rs 150).

Sindhi fare at Aaliya's Kitchen

Named after home chef Reshma Ash's daughter, the kitchen opened in the lockdown and offers a limited menu on weekends. "Mostly I do Sindhi food, but I also add some street-style staples such as our traditional dal pakwans," says Ash.

Cost: Batata vada (Rs 80 for four pieces and dry garlic chutney); dal pakwaan (three pieces for Rs 160) with dal, tamarind and green chutneys, and onions; misal pav (Rs 120). The food can be collected from Bandra West or at actual costs through WeFast

During the lockdown, Kalpana Bhojwani realised the power of word-of-mouth marketing. One order led to another and she now serves a range of Gujarati farsan such as patra, khandvi, khaman and white dhokla. "We also serve street-style Mumbai sandwiches, pav bhaji, chole bhatura and ragda pattice," she adds.
