Escape the heat by heading to a farm in Wada, where you can frolic in fruit orchards, and eat all the watermelons you want
Tired of the same old treks and camps that take you out of the city on the weekend? Do something different this time by spending the day at a farm in Wada, Palghar, and indulging in some melon-ey goodness.
The trip is meant to usher in the watermelon season, and will involve a plethora of activities to help you make the most of it. "This is the first time we're hosting such an event.
We wanted to do something unique, and what better way to welcome summer than by enjoying this juicy fruit? We have tied up with Shivar Agro Tourism, which will be the venue for the trip," says Karishma Joshi of Mumbai Travellers, which has organised the trip.
The day will begin with local farmers introducing you to their farming methods, as well as to the types of fruits grown in the area, such as mangoes, chikoos and bananas, in addition to other produce.
"We also have a bunch of games planned through the day, like a treasure hunt, hide and seek, and even a watermelon-eating contest. The winners will get to take home watermelons," adds Joshi.
Meals served will be rustic, local fare, and the day will end with a performance of tarpa, a folk dance.
