Lone Ranger
Mumbai partygoers love some good humour, and the Rodeo Drive since its launch in April last year has been entertaining guests with the mechanic bull that makes them roar in delight as they grapple to keep control as it bounces about.
Nestled in Peninsula Redpine Hotel in Marol village on Andheri-Kurla Road just above music space The Stables, the galloping mechanic Bull is the attraction here.
It's a riot to even watch the excited crowd cheering around and ensuring they get enough pictures of their drunk friends falling off the animal for social media which they are likely to regret the next morning.
The story of last week is a little different. We went to the American-themed gastro-pub for an early drink and found the place to ourselves, with the except of a few tables; reminding us of the contrast weekend night-out where the American Tex-Mex vibe and commercial music welcomed us with open arms.
Today, we are here to lounge about, and we order a serving of Lone Ranger (Rs 225) nachos that come with a scant drizzle of cheese, guacamole, capsicums and olives. We send it back and the chef graciously improves it. But the server did show us some grump before agreeing to take it back.
The Rodeo Whiskey Sour (Rs 550) seems to be mixed by an amateur as the balance of sour and bitter are amiss. Oakland Mai Tai (Rs 350) which is a stiff drink with dark rum, lime and a maitai concentrate which was just over palatable. While space is ideal for a night to forget, we were not too happy with the food consumed on a sober night.
The only thing we like is the juicy, hot Margherita Pizza that comes with a stringy cheese net. It folds easily, and every bite is the perfect balance of crunch and pillowy heaven. That's the thing about pizzas; you never know where you'll find the perfect one to keep your tastebuds happy. So, we club this safe bet with a couple of beers and walk out with a smile.
Next time you have to treat your friends for your birthday, or throw your colleague a farewell party, rest assured the bull will serve you well. Grab a few beers, dig into some cheesy food and ride into the night.
