French Oak Cask variety — ‘light, peppery and intriguing’ — wins at the World Whiskies Awards
Melbourne: Tasmanian distillery Sullivan's Cove's French Oak Cask variety was named the world's best single malt whisky at the World Whiskies Award held this week in London.
The alcohol was judged the global winner from a high-quality pool of single malt entries, including Scotland's Bunnahabain, Aberfeldy, Glenkinchie and Glenlivet distilleries and Japan's Yamazaki. According to judges, French Oak Cask entry was "light, peppery and intriguing", asserting that it was a match made in heaven with a smooth buttery feel.
