Make a date to indulge in frothy milkshakes, fresh juices and blended smoothies perfect for summer
The interiors are cosy, with wooden accents and welcoming yellow lighting
Sure, you have heard of Keventers (especially from your Delhi friends) or stood in the snaking line outside its outposts in Bandra or Ghatkopar. The talk of the town since its launch a few months ago, it has surely kicked off a milkshake trend in the city.
In Juhu, we now have the month-old Mister Shake, owned by Amaan and Nazeeya Siddiqui. The first time we spotted the haunt, its little red door caught our eye, heightened by the offbeat name. Inside, the cosy décor of a wooden station, yellow lights and pale grey walls encouraged us to pick up a fairly expansive menu. It was divided into shakes, iced teas, smoothies, protein shakes and juices. When we did end up visiting this week, we began our journey through the milky way with a 300-ml bottle of Berry White Chocolate (R225). They also have an option of 500ml for R315 for every flavour. The server had earlier offered us a tasting of the strawberry milkshake, but the addition of white chocolate gave it a creamy, sweet boost. A drizzle of white chocolate sauce on the inside of the bottle mingles with the strawberry milk, making it a wholesome, thick sip.
Next, tried the Salted Caramel (R225), where the well-made caramel sauce went beyond lending the shake a butterscotch-y aftertaste. It was not overtly sweet (nor salty). We knew we had found a favourite.
Berry White Chocolate Shake, Belgian Chocolate Shake and Salted Caramel Shake
Nothing prepared us for the Belgian Chocolate Shake (R225), which we requested be made without sugar. "But, it is a dark concoction, ma'am," the server warned us. We hoped the dark would meet our expectations. And, it did. Is there a word to
describe something between a bite and sip? Chunks of chocolate, grains of bitter chocolate powder and froth made it a chilled combination of balanced bitterness.
The place is open till 12.30 am, so we see a lot of midnight cravings being doused here.
