The first time we visited Candy & Green at Breach Candy was in February last year, when it launched with the idea to serve food "free of meats, eggs and nasties". We remember being pampered by celebrity chef Karishma Sakhrani, who created a clean-eating, ingredient-centric menu for the vegetarian restaurant, without relying on paneer. Owner Shraddha Bhansali had also roped in Linesh Pillai of Terra Farms to transform her terrace into a micro farm, which was replanted after the rains destroyed it.

We drop in for a quick afternoon rendezvous with a long-lost friend and catch up over usual banter as we sip on kombucha cooler (Rs 300), a probiotic tea that is hibiscus flavoured and perfect as an afternoon drink. We love its fizz, which gives the effect of a carbonated cola drink. Another favourite is ultron (Rs 300), a watermelon and rose fresh juice. It is flavoured with mint and basil seeds, and is a lighter and healthier version of a falooda.

Gnochhi
The service staff gives us friendly advice, telling us to opt for zucchini parcels (Rs 375), which we pair with gnocchi roasted in red pepper sauce (Rs 400). The parcels are stuffed with ricotta, apricot and toasted nuts, and served with a chilli aioli. And while we love the pillowy gnocchi, it lacks salt, though the spicy punch from the creamy red pepper sauce makes up for that.
Coconut pudding
For dessert, our mouths water at the thought of diving into the vegan coconut pudding (Rs 295) and we cross our fingers hoping that it is the same creamy heaven that we had tasted the last time around. It arrives, and as we give the plate a jerk, the pudding wobbles in delight. Our spoon dips into it easily and we finish the dish in under a minute.
Zucchini parcels
It is drizzled with a passion fruit coulis and sprinkled with toasted black sesame seeds. In fact, it's just as we remember it, sans the strawberries. Ultimately, we leave Candy & Green with a full belly and light heart, assured that the place retains its promise of good food and drinks.
