Now, here's a heady twist to the traditional set of modak ingredients like coconut, jaggery and saffron. Out Of The Blue has created this fancy dish comprising light and crispy waffles. The waffles are made of semolina-leavened batter and fumed with dessicated coconut, jaggery and saffron flavours. They are served with saffron, chocolate and pistachio modaks.

PBJ Modak
Giving the good ol' PBJ (Peanut Butter Jelly) a twist is Silverspoon Gourmet catering company that has created a PBJ modak. This bite-sized delight is made using peanut butter with an apricot jelly centre. You can also place an order for their innovations like the Hazelnut Praline, Cashew Peanut Butter Rose and the Nutella variety that also contains cream cheese!

Red Velvet Modak
Homebaker Neeru Mehra, of the popular homerun brand, Neeru's Cakes and Desserts, has been conjuring new varieties of modaks since the last three festive seasons. Her latest creation is the Red Velvet modak that comes with white chocolate coating and a centre-filling of the red velvet sponge. The other flavours include paan, praline, orange chocolate and dark chocolate.

Modak marzipans
Nordic Kandie has added a global twist to this traditional sweet by creating all-vegetarian modak marzipans, made with Mamra almonds from Iran and coated with Belgian chocolate. These come in flavours like almond, lychee, strawberry, nutmeg, etc. Also opt for these varieties with gold (in pic) or silver coating, imported from Italy.

Irish Cream Modak
Apart from serving the traditional modak varieties, Ghasitaram's has also created innovative varieties with the help of their in-house confectionery and bakery. One of them is the Irish Cream Modak. Sans alcohol, this modak gets its flavour from the irish cream paste that is mixed into the mawa. Some other options are Vanilla Magic modaks and Golden Glaze modaks (inset pic).
