Hunger Pangs
Hill Road's famous bakeries are likely to get some stiff competition from this latest restaurant on the block. Get pastas, burgers, sandwiches, salads and starters such as potato wedges and chicken cheese logs. It works for a wholesome working lunch option, if you work in the vicinity.
SMD suggests: The juicy, cheesy chicken burger is likely to draw even the biggest Hearsch fan.
Where: 53, Opposite Nature's Basket, Hill Road, Bandra West

Mexiloko
With Taco Bell sticking to the suburbs, South Mumbai can be grateful for Mexiloko. Serving up Tex Mex favourites - nachos, empanadas, quesadillas, tacos and burritos - this Colaba joint is also light on the pocket.
SMD suggests: The Lam Con Carne Empanada or the Lime and Coriander Fish Burrito which is practically a meal in itself.
Where: Bela Court Shop No 1, Bela Society, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Colaba

Magic Dust Café
This charming, cosy little place, inspired by the book The Secret, hidden away in Powai can serve as your nest for the evening. It is just as good for a quick snack and dash. They serve burgers, eggs and salads.
SMD suggests: The Philly Cheese Chicken Burger for traditional goodness and the Noodle Burger if you're up for an experiment.
Where: Shop 5, India Bulls Mint, Hiranandani Meadows, Ghodbunder road
Call: 9833204194

Ambretto
With adorably quirky names for each of their subs, sandwiches, empanadas, baguettes and salads, this Mahim joint had us at their menu! What's interesting is their multi-cuisine menu doesn't stop at Chinese, American or Mexican fast food; it also includes the very Canadian Poutine.
SMD suggests: The 12 Hungry Men for when you're really hungry and the Poutine for its novelty value
Where: 8, The Nest, Manorama Nagarkar Marg, opposite Starcity Theatre, Mahim
Call: 33487788, 7718827031

Nothin' Fishy About It
Already chock-full with quick service restaurants, Carter Road gets another cubicle-sized wraps and rolls joint. And with a sizeable amount of seafood options on the menu there's a lot that's fishy about it.
SMD suggests: The tawa fish wrap is packed with flavour, tangy with the right amount of mustardy-pungency.
Where: A/6, Gagangiri Apartments, Off Carter Road, Bandra West
