After macaroons, gelato and yoghurt, juices seem to be the latest food fad to hit the city. This year saw the launch of several cold-pressed juice brands meant for the fitness-friendly juice drinker. Now, Carter Road joggers have a smoothie and shake joint to give their daily run a boost with the addition of Slurrp.
The Berry Merry and Brainstorm charged our system
Their smoothie menu is categorised into regular and super smoothies that are served with âboosters' that help detox. What we loved was that their smoothies are made from non-fat probiotic yoghurt, whole fruits (frozen), and natural apple syrup instead of sugar. Sold on the concept, we ordered Brainstorm ('160, more power for grey cells!) and a Berry Merry ('150) from the regular smoothie section.
The service was prompt. Brainstorm, a mix of mangoes, blueberries, banana and orange juice, was a hit with its naturally sweet flavour and mix of herbs. Berry Merry was equally refreshing with raspberry and blackberry flavours, and a crunch of seeds. Next up, we ordered a Kit Kat Shake (Rs 160) and a 5 Star Crunchy Shake (Rs 140), which were equally good. All thick shakes are made using ice cream, and hence, all of them are good combinations. We feel the addition of chocolate syrup or caramel would have taken it to another level, though.
Slurrp offers many options for shake/smoothie enthusiasts, with the fruit concoctions being the stars of the menu. We hope that they manage to stay open at a stretch that has witnessed countless open-and-shut cases.
