Renowned fashion designer Masaba Gupta is the daughter of former West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards and Indian actress Neena Gupta. She was born in 1989. Masaba Gupta's parents never married. Her mother Neena Gupta defied so-called societal norms and raised her as a single-mother which came with financial and societal hardships. Masaba Gupta's father Viv Richards got in touch with her when she turned 20

Raised in Mumbai, Masaba Gupta wanted to be a tennis player when she was 8-years-old but dropped the idea when she turned 16. She loved dancing and wanted to join Shiamak Davar group but was advised against it by her mother Neena Gupta

In 2015, Masaba Gupta had a court marraige with producer Madhu Mantena on June 2, 2015. This was followed by a celebration bash that was attended by several Bollywood folk. In November 2015, Masaba Gupta and Madhu Mantena hosted an extravagant wedding reception with a host of film personalities coming together to join in on the celebrations.

Masaba Gupta had checked in to the clinic in January 2016 for help with various issues, chief among them her post-marriage weight gain. "I then stuck to their methods for the whole year. Masaba Gupta says travelling solo liberates her from the daily chaos of life and makes her a better observant individual. Talking about solo travelling, Masaba said, "I think the most important thing I get to do when travelling solo, is spending time with myself and absorbing the energy of the place I am in. In a city like Mumbai, when you have a crazy professional life, we are always surrounded by people, and all we are doing is interacting either with professionals or friends. There is so much noise around us and it goes in our headspace as well."

In 2018, Masaba Gupta had a reunion at her father Viv Richards' birthday celebrations with her mother Neena Gupta. Masaba shared a picture from the gathering on Instagram and wrote, "It's been a bit astonishing, how short life can be .. which is why I dropped every single 'important' thing I was doing to come surprise my dad on his birthday today & even had an impromptu family reunion. Missing the husband, though. Happy birthday, dad - I’m really trying to make this emotional, but you’re 66 now & still can’t send a Whatsapp & think a smartphone is the devil incarnate." (sic)

In August 2018, Masaba Gupta took to Instagram to post a long joint statement addressing her separation from Madhu Mantena. She wrote, 'To our family and friends, with a lot of sadness, Madhu and I have today decided to go on a trial separation in our marriage. Both of us have taken this decision after consulting professionals and our parents. The only thing we are ready to say right now is, 'what we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on the marriage and the love that we share. Hence we would take time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life.' (sic)
