Apart from the event being a re-launch of sorts for the party, it also turned into a launch pad for Raj's son Amit as an MNS leader. Just like his father Raj and grandfather Bal Thackeray, Amit too is a cartoonist. Environmentalist, Caricaturist, and Footballer are few of the facets of his colourful yet illustrious career so far. Apart from the event being a re-launch of sorts for the party, it also turned into a launch pad for Raj's son Amit as an MNS leader.
Addressing the crowd for the first time, Amit said, "I came to know about my induction in the party just yesterday evening. I couldn't sleep the whole night. Given this opportunity, I will surely work hard." His mother, Sharmila Thackeray said, "It is a very happy moment for the entire family. He has been doing good work and now he will be in active politics. There will be challenges ahead of him but I am confident that he will come out successful."
Amit Thackeray was born to Raj and Sharmila Thackeray in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Amit Thackeray studied commerce at the RA Podar Junior College in Matunga. He joined architecture course at LS Raheja College after passing out of Podar but later moved to DG Ruparel College in Matunga where he completed his degree.

In 2014, during the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Thackeray was soft-launched by his father Raj Thackeray into politics. Back then, Amit used to hold roadshows across the city of Mumbai. In 2017, during the civic polls, Amit started a Facebook page to interact with the youth. Amit is regularly seen posting photos of dad Raj's political rallies and much more.

Besides being the eldest son of Raj and Sharmila Thackeray, Amit Thackeray also has a younger sister. His younger sister, Urvashi Thackeray, carved a name for herself in Bollywood and fashion industry. Urvashi was the assistant director of the David Dhawan directorial Judwaa 2 and garnered a lot of appreciation for her work in the film.

Just like the late Bal Thackeray, Amit Thackeray, too, is a cartoonist and loves playing football.

In a throwback Thursday post, Amit Thackeray took to Instagram and shared a rare, candid picture of himself with Bal Thackeray during his childhood days. While sharing this picture with his followers on Instagram Amit Thackeray captioned it: Some Moments always stay Forever! A point of commonality with Balasaheb. "I like drawing and making cartoons, Balasaheb has seen them and has praised me too."
