Pernia started her classical training in Kathak from the Lucknow Gharana since the age of 4, under the mentorship of Pandit Tirath Ram Azad

She is also an author and her first book on fashion was a personal style guide called Be Stylish with Pernia Qureshi.

Speaking about educating people on the dance form, Qureshi had told IANS, "It's just a matter exposing people towards it. Our heritage is so rich that it's important to attract people towards it."

"Classical dance should not take a back seat. It's so inspiring and beautiful and this art is way more interesting than ballet. It comes from my heart," she said about the dance form

Pernia Qureshi also acted in a periodical drama film titled 'Jaanisaar' released on August 7, 2015, opposite Pakistani actor Imran Abbas Naqvi.
